Who Shall Love You, Polje?

Well, the people of Polje, at least – those who live in this nice, tranquil suburb of Ljubljana east of the city centre!

A friend of us was celebrating her 50. birthday (in magnificent style, with a 50 km run in the morning!) and we came to colour the sky for her with kites. And of course we took the opportunity for some kite aerial photography (even if the day was a bit gloomy and the photos don’t do service to this part of Ljubljana)!

Polje – literally “The field” – used to be a village built around a church, ecclesiam beate Virginis Marie in Campo, the church of St. Virgin Mary in the field. The church was supposedly built in 1325, and it was first mentioned in a document written on August 15th 1499.

Polje has grown since and became a part of Ljubljana proper in 1982, but it retains its cozy character with quiet roads, houses nad gardens.

Happy birthday, Vanja – let your spirits fly high as a kite! 🙂

All kite aerial photos shot with Canon A810 on the MASAG β Rokkaku.
